Whistle while you work

I have a thing about tidiness, in fact I have a thing about things being parallel. (Crazy though it sounds). At home my room has to be perfect before I can get anything done, down to the drinks coaster being about 20mm away for the edge of the side cabinet on both its edges, and on both sides of the bed.

It sounds ridiculous, right! I did used to worry when I was younger when I heard my friends saying they hated cleaning their rooms but now I don't, you know why? Because this compulsive nature is what got me into design in the first place. I always loved art and drawing but lacked that spontaneity of what to draw, paint, etc. So at high school when I discovered this form of art that had purpose and grids and rules and most of all structure, I was sold! That path then lead to college and university and eventually to working/cleaning here today.

We have just finished a cleaning session and I have to say the studio looks great right now although how long that will last no-one knows. Luckily my crazy organised obsession doesn't effect me here... too much. As long as my desk and drawers are tidy (as they always are) I don't mind the rest of the studio. Which is handy because as you may have seen on our 'about us' page there's bits and bobs everywhere from plants, to a rabbit with antlers on the wall, to old job boards to photography lighting, to bits of plastic hanging off the wall (see if you can spot them on the 'about us' page) Our studio is full of things that don't have a home... and it's great!
This place has character, history, sentimental value and homeliness. Every week I'll walk in and spot something new! It's inspirational to have the latest create journals spread about the place as well as old jobs I've never seen before as well as Kieran's toys and Ryan's email stuck to his drawer thanking him for the great brew he made.

So I will happily work in the chaos that is our studio because that's what we've made it OURS!
